A simple tool with sturdy parts

The setting tool uses a high-strength alloy rod, a thrust bearing and washers made of high-carbon chromium bearing steel, and a hex cover you hold with a wrench.

The bearing lets the rod turn smoothly under load, so the rivet nut is pulled tight and clamps behind the panel.

Use the tools you already own

Turn the rod with a wrench for full control, or speed things up with an electric drill or a pneumatic driver when you have a lot of holes to set.

Each kit is made for one thread size, from small M3 for light trim up to M12 for heavier brackets. Choose the size that matches your bolts on the next page.

Tip: drill the hole to match the outer diameter of the rivet nut body for a tight, clean fit.

How it works in 4 steps

Drill

Drill a hole that matches the rivet nut body and remove any burrs.

Thread on

Screw a rivet nut fully onto the end of the tool’s rod.

Insert and tighten

Push it into the hole, hold the hex cover with a wrench and turn the rod until it feels firm.

Release

Turn the rod the other way to unscrew it. The threaded insert stays in place.

Good to know: each kit sets one thread size, so choose the size that matches your bolts. Once set, a rivet nut is permanent and has to be drilled out to remove. Wear eye protection when drilling. Sizes may vary slightly because measurements are taken by hand.
